Real Madrid versus Barcelona has always been an intense fixture in the football calendar and Thursday’s Copa del Rey semi-final first-leg was no different.

Barcelona coach, Xavi and Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal were in the thick of the action for their respective sides as the Catalans ran out 1-0 winners on the night.

Following an aerial battle between Alejandro Balde and Dani Carvajal, the Real Madrid right-back got into it with Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez, Football Espana reports.

The Barcelona manager was caught on camera insulting Carvajal by calling the Real Madrid defender “an idiot” in Spanish as both men were involved in a heated exchange on the touchline.

However, at the end of the match, the pair were seen sharing a hug, as they appeared to have settled their grievances with each other at full-time.

Xavi unimpressed with El Clasico win

Meanwhile, after Barcelona defeated Real Madrid 1-0 in the first leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final, Xavi Hernandez criticized his team for not being able to control the ball, Daily Post reports.

Xavi added that despite losing the first leg to Barcelona, Real Madrid is still the favourite to advance to the Copa del Rey final.

Barcelona held a slim lead over Real Madrid after the first leg of their Copa del Rey semifinal matchup thanks to an own goal by Eder Militao at the Santiago Bernabeu.
