Messi vs Ronaldo: Thomas Muller names more dangerous player

Bayern Munich legend Thomas Muller has claimed that Cristiano Ronaldo has posed more of a threat to the Bundesliga giants than Lionel Messi.

Muller made this claim following Paris Saint-Germain’s elimination from the Champions League by Bayern Munich on Wednesday night.

The Bundesliga champions beat PSG 1-0 in France in the first leg and followed that up with a 2-0 victory in the return leg at the Allianz Arena.

Argentina World Cup winner Messi struggled to make an impact in both legs and has lost six of his nine games played against Bayern during his career.

Muller noted that Ronaldo has caused Bayern more problems in the Champions League over the past decade.

“Against Messi, things always go well at all levels in terms of results,” Muller said after Bayern’s win over PSG.

“At club level, Cristiano Ronaldo was our problem when he was at Real Madrid.”

He added: “It’s not so easy to play at a team like PSG. It’s difficult to get a really good team balance.”

Cristiano Ronaldo no longer plays his football in Europe. The 38-year-old left Manchester United back in November 2022 after his contract was terminated by the club following a face-off with manager Erik ten Hag.

The Portugal captain now plays for Saudi Arabia club Al-Nassr, where he reigns as the highest-paid sportsman in history.
