Chelsea transfer news: Napoli’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has attracted plenty of interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs after impressing in Italy
Chelsea are expected to continue their mass transfer spending in the summer as part of Todd Boehly’s major overhaul at Stamford Brill.
The U.S billionaire has spent over £600million since completing his takeover in May last year but results on the pitch have been underwhelming. Graham Potter’s men are currently 10th in the Premier League table and are closer to the relegation zone than the UEFA Champions League spots.
Enzo Fernandez’s £106million January arrival from Benfica smashed the club’s transfer record and it would be difficult to put another purchase of the same magnitude past Boehly at the end of the season.
One player who has been linked with a move to west London is Napoli’s superstar Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. The winger has been tipped to complete a move away from Italy less than a year after moving to Napoli following his remarkable performances.
The 22-year-old has contributed to 27 goals in 26 games in all competitions for Napoli this season and has played a starring role for Luciano Spalletti side’s rise to the top of Serie A. Gli Azzurri are 18 points clear at the top of the table with 14 games remaining and are on course to win their first league title since 1990.
After Kvaratskhelia’s agent slapped a €100million (£87million) price tag on the Georgian back in November, Chelsea may face a tougher task of bringing the winger to the Premier League in the near future following an update on his future in Italy.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Napoli are preparing to double the forward’s salary in anticipation of interest from the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City. Kvaratskhelia’s current deal doesn’t run out until 2027 but president Aurelio De Laurentiis is expected to act quick.
